Niroga Yoga Teacher Training Integral Health Fellowship ProgramCertified Yoga Teacher Training Fellowship Program for People of Color Niroga Institute will award a need-based scholarship to 16 participants of color to become Certified Yoga Teachers with partial funding from Alameda County Public Health Department and Yoga Dana Foundation. This is an 11-month program beginning July 10, 2010. Qualified applicants will start the program in July by taking required yoga classes twice a week and attending a twice-monthly meeting at the Niroga Center in Berkeley. In September participants will be assessed in order to move on to take the Niroga Integral Health Fellows Certified Yoga Teacher Training Program, which runs from September 2010 through May 2011. After graduating from the program in May 2011, newly certified teachers will be qualified to teach yoga in a variety of settings, such as, schools, medical facilities, juvenile halls, drug/rehab centers, senior centers, recreation centers, and, of course, yoga studios. They will be eligible to teach for Niroga and be positioned to bring the transformative practice of yoga to our communities with cultural competence and sensitivity. To receive a scholarship, you must be a person of color, at least 18 years old, and have a high school diploma or GED certificate. With the scholarship, recipients will be asked to commit to 100 hours of community service after the training ends in May 2011. The program has a value of $4000. We are accepting applications and enrolling students for this program now. The deadline for applications is June 21, 2010. Qualified applicants will be interviewed before being accepted into the program.
Applications for the 2010-2011 IHF teacher training program are no longer being accepted. You may apply in Spring 2011 for the 2011-2012 training. |
